LanTau Island 30th August

Was awoken by the sun today... the sun here in HK seems to rise a little earlier cuz at about 7 plus.. the sun is dem strong already.. strong enough to wake me from my slumber..i'm quite a deep sleeper.. so how bad is that?!

well i met my friends and we went down to Maxim Palace to have our long awaited Dim Sum!! I came across this Dim Sum restaurant on yahoo and thus we made our way down to see how fantastic it was.. well that wasnt before we got lost a thousand times along the way.. 3 girls with 2 maps and all having very bad sense of directions.. but i'm proud to say.. we managed to find our way there after about an hour or so.. i have no idea how long we walked though..but its ok.. can slim down!!

tah-dah..Maxim Palace Restaurant! its located at City Hall and it has a seaview! but you'd have to call in advance to make a booking if you want to have a good seat.. the dim sum was quite good.. but i must admit i was a little disappointed cuz it was not as fantastic as i thought it would be.. the exterior and interior was dem nice.. i guess i expected too much of it.. good dim sum like the one served here can be found in SG.. so i hope i'll be able to taste even better ones!

Look at the lights!! my eyes couldnt leave it when i saw it ok.. i was walking around with my eyes glued to it.. look totally SUKU.. haha.. astounding!

the very conventional dim-sum trolley.. it was so cool!! reminds me of the days when my family would go to toa payoh to eat dim sum.. and the ladies would push the trollies while calling out what they had in the trays..haha so cool! -dim sum, siew mai, hakkao..anyone??-

The Seaview from Maxim.. well you cant really see it clearly cuz we were seated in the middle of the room..heh

Breakfast! Our very first breakfast in Hong Kong. And at such a nice place! So delightful!! =D we couldnt wait to start on it.. we took a few more pictures while wolfing down the food.. so the pictures are not suitable for public viewing..(fine i'm just lazy but i'm on a tight schedule now!)

Next up.. going towards LanTau Island..the place where you can see the world's largest outdoor bronze buddha statue.

On the Ferry to Lantau Island..

Finally on Lantau Island.. i thought it would be like Pulau Ubin cuz it was all trees and greenery all around.. but look what we saw! Macdonalds!

It was just a hilly area and its just amazing cuz there were semi-detached houses here and there and even a school! (first picture) we evern saw cows grazing on grass! i couldnt take them cuz the bus was going at a speed of a rocket.. but to them its just their usual leisurely drive.. like really. well i was thinking pictures cant really tell you everything cuz you have to experience it yourselves! Like the pictures of the mountains and scenery.. they seem like nothing on pictures but they reeeally are breath-taking when you are standing there just this close to them.. and no i'm not giving excuses for my sub-standard photography.

Pictures can tell you a thousand words.. but when u're here yourself, it says EVERYTHING! like you cant tell from the 2 pictures above that i was on the bus and about to die from trying not to puke can you.. nor can you tell that i almost ruined my camera lenses cuz it kept bumping into the bus windows when i was snapping shots. but i'm not complaining. really.

one last picture before we arrive at our destination..
the Seaview along the journey to Ngong Ping Village..

And finally..

The very Grand Buddha Statue..i got a shock when i saw it.. not because of its colossal size.. but because i thought it would be made of gold and not bronze.. =.=
how could such a big thing be made of gold..one word: Suku

ok i'm kinda tired of describing all the pictures.. so the next few were actually taken on our way up to the statue. oh by the way.. for those who want to know.. the ferry ride was HKD 22.. which is about S$4.. and the bus ride was HKD16.. which is about S$3.20.. quite expensive for a terrible experience of bumping and being scared out of ur wits..and of course the entrance ticket to the inside of the Buddha Statue was HKD23.. very worth it cuz you get to see stuff..and get a coupon which you can redeem for snacks offered near the Po Lin Monastery.

i realised that i didnt take a picture of the buddha statue when i reached the top.. maybe i was overwhelmed by the height..(it was over 500 meters high up ok!) aiya.. sheesh anyway.. here's a picture of the view from over 500 metres high up..

bet you couldnt tell that this pic wasnt taken by me right.. HAHA.. well i was too scared to go to the edge to take a picture cuz it was so high up.. and there was wind! what if it blew me away into the sea!! ahhh~! anywayz.. the main point being.. you guys have to come here! although i would say if you have a serious case of motion sickness.. you might wanna try the helicopter instead of the bus..

oh well.. we spent quite some time taking pictures of the scenery around..(ok fine i was just plastering myself to the inner walls cuz i was scared..but sophia and jillian were taking pictures alright..) and then we headed down to the monastery for the snacks!

looking at the pictures i took.. it kinda reminds me of pictures an old lady would take.. you know those aunties that go on a china tour.. they like going to temples and nunneries..anyway..

snack time!

well we took a bus back to the MTR at Tung Chung and spent abit of time walking around in quite a big mall recommended by King.. look what i found at the hypermart..

Canned Vitasoy!! Amazing!! i've never seen it before!! (kinda sounds like Mr Weasley who's fascinated with Muggle stuff ay? lolz)

And last shot of the day taken for Yue.. i didnt see him on the streets.. but i did see his advertisement..=p

i'm not a fan of him so i'm hoping this is actually Stephen Fung? If it was just some random model.. it would have been so retarded of me standing in the middle of the street taking a photo of him? Yue Tell me this is him! lolz..

alright.. finally completed this blog.. i've spent hours on it.. just for you guys..
good night people!
